Modify the Air box (2)

Instead of drilling the air box, an extra intake pipe can be added to the bottom of the original airbox. The pipe used is a "right angle" drain pipe piece from homebase which sits there quite nicely (with some
modification) with the open end located under the existing input feed. There's already a space in the metal support, so only a small section at the top of the new pipe would be blocked. This would also be ideal for the cool air intake

The pipe has to be hacksawed at a slight angle... flush at the front edge but about 6mm higher at the rear edge, to allow fitting in the available space in the car. (You can see in the pics that the pipe is angled slightly towards the existing intake due to this angle requirement).

I used a 52mm hole saw to cut the hole, then removed the necessary interior struts with a knife then tidied it all up with a file.

The finished airbox installed back in the engine bay. It makes a wonderful difference to the top end... it pulls all the way to the redline without the usual flattening off of the acceleration curve. Not really that much difference to induction noise though, I think the holes in the side of the airbox would be much more effective for that.  :-)
